Kanimozhi Karunanidhi, who is currently imprisoned in the controversial 2G case, has on Tuesday threatened to use Prime Minister Manmohan Singh as the witness for the case. She had further argued that if her trial continued against her then she would use the prime minister as a witness.

Kanimozhi had revealed that the prime minister and the former prime minister P Chidambaram were kept in the loop, when the mobile permits were given to the nine companies in the year 2008. This had put the light on the statement of the former telecom minister A Raja, who had last month told the special court that Manmohan Singh and Chidambaram were aware of the allocations of the 2G spectrum.

The 43 year old Rajya Sabha MP had further told that the charges against her were frivolous and malicious and that Chidambaram and telecom minister Kapil Sibal were capable of being the witnesses for the case. Kanimozhi’s legal counsel had presented the minutes of the meeting in which the prime minister and the then finance minister as well as the telecom minister had decided that the licenses of the 2G spectrum were not to be auctioned.
