Texas ease past LA to cement top spot
Texas put their poor performance against Red Sox behind to grab a 11-7 clear win over their main followers Los Angeles Angels at the Rangers Ballpark in Alrington.
Rangers scored all their points in a row and so did Angels who finished the game with a seven point rally they failed to extend any longer. Cruz doubled to center allowing Napoli and Moreland to bring the hosts a two point quick lead. The same Cruz hit a 461 foot homerun in the fourth term to make it three, while Murphy finished the game in style providing a grand slam in the fifth, which included Young, Napoli and Cruz.
Things got much worse for the Angeles, whose main aim was to close the gap against the leaders, as Moreland doubled to left for Young’s eighth point. The rally was ended by Cruz who hit yet another 417 footer in the same inning, allowing Napoli and Moreland to make it 11-0.
The last three terms belonged to the visitors, though, who struggled to provide a late comeback. Wilson singled to center and Wells cut the deficit to ten points. The eighth term saw the same Los Angels score four more points through Kendrick, who scored the second one from Trumbo’s singling, Branyan, who hit a 417 foot homerun, Trout and Trumbo who reduced the deficit to six points.
Thus, they were forced to try the impossible and score the six points within the ninth term. As expected, they failed to do so, scoring just a couple through Kendrick, who hit a 414 foot homerun, and Abreu.
Said cornerstone Cruz: “It’s good to have a good offensive night especially against the Angels. Staying in the lineup is the only thing that matters. I don’t like the demotion but the only thing that I care about is to be in the lineup. I went to the cage and I went without the batting gloves and felt good.”
