GM’s Wuling HongTu is expected to hit Indian roads soon but with an alias. IndianAutosBlog.com readers will know about the previous posts regarding the Wuling HongTu spotted testing in Gujarat.
Though the Wuling HongTu has a 1.2 litre petrol engine, the HongTu along with the Honguang (Xylo competitor) is expected to hold a diesel engine. However, GM will rename the product suitably. Speculations are that the established “Tavera” tag will be used on the product to gain maximum traction at launch.
The Tavera N200 maybe? However, it is only known that it will bear the Chevy Bowtie.
Launched recently in Columbia the van is less than 4 metres long and thus will comfortably enter the small car segment availing the 12% excise cut. The N200 is also expected to be tough competitor to the Maruti Eeco which had the segment all to itself. It has to share the limelight with hopefully, a worthy competitor in the N200 packing a diesel engine. So watch out Eeco!.
The N200 will be sold in the commercial and passenger vehicle space when it come out next year.
