Users who have small-sized monitor specially on laptops, getting more and more screen space becomes everyday war, specially when you cannot compromise the number of shortcuts you always want to have in the browser but running on full screen is not that comfy either.
Luckily if you are using Firefox, an extension solves this for you. Named as Vertical Sidebar, it does what it says but goes beyond by acting like a dock which disappears when not required.
Features of Vertical Sidebar Extension :
- Automatically hide when you do not need and appear back when you move your mouse to left or right, as configured.
- Acts like a Dock where you can add shortcuts, bookmarks, quick options etc which is typically a toolbar property.
- You can use Icons + Text or just Icons or Text. This is useful when you have a lot of items on toolbar.
- You can even drop the borders to make it look even sleeker.
- Options to Hide when you go full screen and even on normal view.
- Option to Show the toolbar when sidebar is open.
One drawback which I see is when you have lot of icons in this vertical toolbar, there is no feature that can do auto scroll to help you discover. You need to manually push to find. Hope this to get introduced soon.
If you are interested to get the tabs to a vertical bar instead of quick bookmarks, you can try the Tree Style Tab bar for Firefox. This add on lets you organize the tabs like tree where you have ant number of tabs under one tab. Useful if you want to organize tabs well.
