care for some tea

"LandepNews"

Would you care for some tea?

After a long day of sightseeing in one of many great cities of the world, it is nice to sit and relax with a cup of tea while reflecting on what you did during the day. This also allows you to plan the next day quietly and watch around a different aspect of the city where you are spending your holidays.
Aware of this special taste of travelers, there are several excellent hotels that have understood the need and offer high class tea as well as their own tea blends. All this is often accompanied by delicious scones and other snacks. Tempted already? Here are some of the best options of places to have tea around the world.

New York: Sip tea in style at the Mandarin Oriental

After entering your accommodation at any hotel belonging to the Mandarin Oriental Company, you will be offered a welcome tea, a ritual that consists of a mixture of herbs prepared in the house and cookies or fresh rolls, which are brought to your room. In New York this welcome tea is often prepared with a Mandarin Blossom tea blend, green tea sprinkled with the essence of fresh oranges and tangerines. We suggest you accompany this tea with ginger scones prepared by the hotel and enjoy the food and drink in the lobby of the 35th floor, while delighting your eyes with the breathtaking views of Central Park in New York.

Hong Kong: The Langham

Tea is a must on any given visit to China, of course. The global hotel group recently added to its services one known as the Langham Afternoon Tea experience, offering four blends of teas prepared in the house at all its properties. The tea is available for local consumption, but also for sale in a black tin decorated with pink flowers. They include the tea of the house, which Is the Langham Blend, a black tea with hints of orange, and also the Silk Road Blend tea, made with jasmine and rose buds.

Paris: Le Pavillon des Lettres

France is a synonym of style and refinement, also when taking of tea. The elegant lounge on the ground floor of the Hotel Le Pavillon des Lettres (which appears on the Hot List 2011) is the best place to settle with a good book and a nice cup of tea, while enjoying the inspiration of masters of literature as Yeats and Flaubert. Le Pavillon des Lettres provides a wide variety of teas, including Le Thé des Écrivains (in English: the writers’ tea), a green tea with a honey and cinnamon flavor, accompanied by cardamom pods and cinnamon sticks.

Cape Town, South Africa: Mount Nelson Hotel

In the Mount Nelson Hotel, tea is served where the customer prefers: on the terrace, in the main hall of the hotel or around the fountain in the garden. This tea is accompanied by a variety of sandwiches to eat with the hand, scones and other sweets of different sorts. The infusion itself is typical of Mount Nelson Tea, made from a blend of six varieties of herbs: Ceylon, Darjeeling, Assam, Kenya, Yunnan, Keemun. These are accompanied by rose petals, which are grown in the picturesque garden.

California: The Peninsula Beverly Hills

If your itinerary takes you to the affluent area known as Beverly Hills, in California, it will be at The Peninsula Beverly Hills where you should stop for tea time. Named the same way as the elegant restaurant of the hotel, the Belvedere Blend tea is served during the three daily services, which take place in the living room of the hotel, accompanied by the music of a classical harpist. In July 2011, on the occasion of 20th anniversary celebrations of the hotel, the menu added also the Tropical Peninsula tea mixture, which consists of Black Assam accented with pineapple, mango and blue cornflowers.
In New York, Hong Kong, Paris, Cape Town or Beverly Hills, you have no excuse for not finishing the day with a warm cup of tea in your hands after a day touring any of these great and exciting cities. Enjoy it!
