Iranian Military Vessel

Iranian navy announced that it would send military vessels out of the Persian Gulf into the Atlantic Ocean waters, close to the maritime borders of the United States. The news was presented by a high-ranking officer of the Iranian navy.

He said that as the imperial forces intensify a presence near Iranian borders, so Iran must place their military vessels nearby the American waters. He added that this would be realized with the help of the soldiers who are loyal to the supreme leader of the Iranian revolution.

The Pentagon’s spokesman said that the United States had been pushing for the freedom of the waters for years, and for that reason Iran may take their ships wherever they pleased.

The Pentagon seems confident that the Iranian navy may not be able to sustain this plan, considering that they could not refuel on such long distances. Some in the Pentagon think that the Iranian vessels could refuel in Venezuela, the ally Iran has in this part of the American continent.

The Iranian navy officials did not specify when this project could be deployed, or what vessels would be used at the American borders.

However, the announcement comes a few months after the Iranian navy sent warships into the Mediterranean through the Suez Channel.

Soon after the fall of the Egyptian regime led by Hosni Mubarak, Iranian sent two warships through the Suez channel, a gesture considered back then as a mere attempt to dare Israel and test the determination of the new leaders of Egypt.

Before the unrest started in Syria, the Iranians leaders cut a deal with the Syrian authorities in order to establish a naval base in the Syrian port of Latakia, with the intention of creating a beachhead in the Mediterranean.
