Eto'o given a three year deal by Russians Anzhi
Inter Milan and Russian club Anzhi have officially agreed on Samuel Eto’o’s move from Giuseppe Meazza as the 30 year old is to receive a three year deal from the Russians who will also pay him a reported 25 million euro amount per year.
Eto’o, who is likely to join Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi in the multi-millionaire club, parts with the Nerrazzuri after two very successful years. He won all he could win with the Italians, including the UEFA Champions League trophy, the FIFA Club World Cup as well as a couple of Italian Cups, the Serie A title and the Super Cup, most of the successes coming in Jose Mourinho’s era.
The Russians confirmed the move in a statement which read: “Today an agreement was reached between the football clubs, Anzhi and Inter, for the transfer of Samuel Eto’o. The terms of the transfer are completely agreed on both sides. Anzhi expresses gratitude to the leadership of Inter Milan for their professional and constructive approach in the negotiations.”
Anzhi becomes Cameroonian’s fifth side after Real Madrid, Mallorca, FC Barcelona and Inter. He scored 33 goals and picked 67 selections with the Nerrazzuri whom he helped to win the UCL trophy after decades. Eto’o’s career includes three UCL trophies, two of which grabbed with FC Barcelona, but also three Spanish titles, two Super Cups as well as two Copa del Rey won with the same Catalans and Mallorca.
Eto’o has become the third big name to join the Russians who have also brought former Chelsea midfielder Yuri Zhirkov as well as Brazilian international Roberto Carlos. As for Inter, the Italians are keen to bring Carlos Tevez on Giuseppe Meazza, according to the club officials who have revealed that they are now looking for a key replacement for the Cameroonian.
Tevez might indeed part with City as Roberto Mancini is no longer in crisis. The Eastlands side have already brought two big names on the Etihad, including Sergio Aguero and Samir Nasri, the latter of which being expected to arrive for the medical this week, so his offensive has now become a very strong one.
Inter have also extended Lucio deal’s with two more years as the Brazilian defender is now under contract with the Italian champions until 2014. Inter finished the season second, but have secured a UEFA Champions League group stage place. They are to make the start in the new season against Lecce, but given the fact that the Serie A was hit by a players’ strike, the debut’s term is uncertain at this moment.
Earlier this month, Inter lost the Italian Super Cup to arch rivals AC Milan who edged Gasperini’s side 2-1 after being led 0-1 in China.
