Okay okay granted Motorola have made a serious comeback in the mobile world since the release of their Droid / Milestone handset, and the Motorola RAZR although great at the time isn’t entirely applicable now, however Google’s Eric Schmidt has stated that Google’s recent purchase of the American company was not inspired by patents, and according to him was down to Motorola having amazing products.
“We did it for more than just patents. The Motorola team has some amazing products” said Eric Schmidt at the Salesforce.com conference held on Thursday.
Google’s purchase of Motorola for $12.5 billion has been debated to be down to patents primarily, so that Google can build on their own portfolio. This news however brings a different stand point in to the argument, and it would seem that Google may have serious plans for Motorola’s hardware in the near future.
